Gore-Y Days ahead

Is Rhyno More Beast Than Man ??

Most World Wrestling Federation Superstars take a year or more to develop their ring style.  However, when your technique consists of fighting any opponent no matter how big or small and demolishing him, theres not much adjustment necessary.

Hence, Rhyno look no time in adapting to the WWF.  Its not often that a 275-pound brute with unlimited strength moves around the ring with the speed and agility of a man half his size, but since joining the Federation in late March, the Man-Beast has gored his way through the competition, scoring major victories over several upper-level Superstars.  With a golden road before him, Rhyno has wasted no time showing other Superstars why he is the Rookie Monster.

Much like his massive, thick skinned namesake, Rhyno hit the Federation stomping and snorting.  He crouches, studying his prey before dashing forward and annihilating anything in his path.  Shiny colors like championship gold around a Superstars waist attract the Man-Beast.  When he sees such a target, Rhyno charges, lashing out with the ferocity of a primitive powerhouse, intent on dismembering an opponent, robbing him of both dignity and consciousness.  Years of intense weight training make Rhynos gore the equivalent of being hit by an 18-wheeler.  He describes its devastating effects as complete and total destruction.

Rhyno began his Federation career with a flourish, choosing the Hardcore Division as his first arena to conquer, and winning that divisions title shortly after his debut.  That should come as no surprise to the man who showed his promise in the now-defunct Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW).

In that organization, Rhyno annihilated his competition, holding both the ECW Heavyweight and Television titles at the time of the companys demise.  Therefore, the only challenge that might actually assuage the Man-Beasts hunger for gold is capturing the five major titles Heavyweight, Intercontinental, European, Tag Team and Hardcore over the course of his career in the WWF, something no one has ever accomplished.

I will not be content until I have unleashed total destruction and maim everyone who gets in my path, says Rhyno.

Often when a young Superstar wins numerous titles and begins to climb the ladder, he hits a snag and then a setback.  So far, this isnt the case with Rhyno, who appears to thrive under pressure.  While his true potential is yet to be realized, Rhynos ring aptitude is advanced for his years.  He aims to improve with every match, and his work ethic is unmatched.

Those who followed Rhynos career before his tenure in the Federation are aware of his technical wrestling background.  The behemoth from Detroit, Michigan, actually wrestled amateur-style for nine years, including competition in freestyle tournaments around the world.

Rhyno began his professional career in the Great Lakes region, and competed in America, Canada and Germany before current Federation commentator and then-ECW owner Paul Heyman discovered him in 1999.  This led to Rhynos first national exposure.

Rhyno prefers using his raw strength, rather than his technical prowess, to overpower opponents.  When I gore someone, I am not only trying to hurt him, Im trying to break him in half and end his career, Rhyno boasts.

That method has proved successful, although he is also capable of matching mat tactics with any of the Superstars considered more technically sound that him.  He is a chameleon, able to adapt to any style suitable for gaining an edge over his opponent.  So, dont be surprised to see Rhyno show off some of his more complex wrestling manoeuvres if a future situation deems it necessary.

The much storied past of Rhyno links him with Edge & Christian.  Early in his career, while competing in Winnipeg, Rhyno came across E & C, and began hanging out with them, both in and out of the square circle.  The young Canadian duo discovered that he was a loyal friend who wasnt afraid to bleed for their cause.

As Rhyno puts it, I would risk life and limb to protect those who support me.  There is no limit to the amount of physical punishment I will cause when someone threatens my friends.

If Rhyno likes someone, he will selflessly sacrifice himself to help and protect him.  But the reverse is also true:  if he hates someone, watch out!  Rhyno will do anything to destroy his enemies or the enemies of his friends.

At his WWF debut, Rhyno helped Edge & Christian score a victory over the Hardy Boyz for the Tag Team titles.  A few weeks later at WrestleMania X-Seven, he again helped E & C secure their titles, this time for their seventh reign.  In all, Rhyno helped Edge & Christian win the tag tiles on two occasions.  Having proved his mettle and toughness, Rhyno began actively competing on his own.

As a singles competitor, he has broken from the herd to stampede his way to victory.  At first, he was fed a steady diet of light-heavyweight Superstars, but when the Man-Beast began devouring his opponents in less than 60 seconds, Federation officials recognized that he needed tougher competition.  Now, Rhyno often finds himself competing against Superstars who are bigger than him.  But he doesnt mind.

All I want is competition.  I cannot compete with smaller opponents, its too easy.  Not that I dont enjoy hurting them, but I like a challenge.

Rhyno has continued to defeat some of the more successful WWF Superstars, scoring major victories over Chris Jericho and Kane, both for the Hardcore Championship.  Rhynos epic hardcore battles with Raven have garnered him much attention.

Speaking about the Hardcore Division, Rhyno smiles.  Its fun I get to seriously hurt my opponent with hazardous weapons and its completely legal.

Backlash was his first WWF pay-per-view, and with the world watching the Rookie Monster strove to put on a prized performance.  He delivered the goods by defeating Raven in what was later called one of the best Hardcore matches in Federation history.

While competing in the Hardcore Division, Rhyno has been able to recapture some Extreme memories by goring such former ECW opponents as Raven and Spike Dudley through tables.  He also avenged a loss from his first ECW match when he defeated Tazz, another former ECW champion, in a 2001 King of the Ring qualifying match.

Are any Superstars safe from the gore?  Nobody is safe man, woman or child.  I will have no mercy on anybody who steps in the ring and challenges me! says Rhyno.

As his reign of terror continues, more Federation Superstars will be enjoying the view from the canvas, after Rhyno lays them out.  Its clear that the Gore-y Days of the World Wrestling Federation have only just begun.
